Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, located in the western plain in the Sichuan Basin, is a famous historical and cultural city with a history of over 3,000 years. With an area of 12,300 square kilometers and a population of over 10.28 million, it has jurisdiction over nine districts, four cities (county-level cities) and six counties. Known as the land of abundance, Chengdu boasts plentiful products, a pleasant climate, a large number of scenic spots and historical sites, excellent traditional handicrafts well known both at home and abroad, unique folk customs and picturesque rural scenery, making tourists enjoy themselves so much as to forget to go home. Chengdu contains many places of scenic and historic interest, such as Zhuge Liang's Shrine, Du Fu's Thatched Cottage, and the world heritage- Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System.

In addition, Chengdu is a tourist communication hub. From Chengdu, visitors can go eastwards to the Three Gorges on the Yantze River, westwards to mysterious Tibet and picturesque Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglong, northwards to Xi'an to appreciate the terra cotta warriors and horses, and southwards to Mount Emei and Leshan where visitors can appreciate the Giant Buddha.
Mount Qingcheng
Mount Qingcheng, 63 kilometers from the city proper of Chengdu, consisits of the front and rear mountains. Visitors can find 128 places of historic interest in the mountains. Thanks to its dense forests, serene valleys, and green trees, it enjoys a reputation of being the quietest mountain on earth.
Dujiangyan Irrigation Sysytem
The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is 49 kilometers from the city proper of Chengdu. Construction of this oldest water-conservancy project in China began during the reign of Emperor Zhao of Qin by perfect Li Bing, and was completed by Li Bing's son. Known as major landmark in the development of water management and technology, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is still discharging its function perfectly. It was included in the UNESCO's World Cultural heritage List at the end of 2000.
Huanglongxi Old Town Scenic Zone
The old town of Huanglongxi features ancient streets, trees, temples, wharves and houses, displaying time-honored and unadorned folk customs. Thanks to its picturesque scenery, Huanglongxi Old Town is a natural film and TV production center well known both at home and abroad.
Xiling Snow-covered Mountain
Located in Dayi County, Chengdu, this mountain covers an area of 482 square kilometers. Du Fu, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, once wrote a poem, including a sentence: "The window has the ages snow from Xiling".Baisha Ridge, with an elevation of 3,200 meters, is the most fascinating in the mountain. It is a rare scene that on the one side of the ridge there is a clear and boundless sky; and on the other side, there are clouds and mists.
Sanxingdui
In the suburbs of Guanghan City, 20 kilometers from Chengdu, a great number of cultural relics with a history of 5,000 years were excavated in Sanxingdui. Sanxingdui pushes the civilization history of the ancient Shu Kingdom 2,000 years forward.
